Newsletter December 2011
This will be the last newsletter of 2012, the year we had two summers, one in April/May, and another in September/October, with a spring in between. Well that’s how it seemed anyway; still many of you spent many hours on the water perfecting you skills. As a club we have done as good as we can expect in the current climate, with most of our events down on numbers but those who attended had a great time, and we hope to only make them better in the coming years.
We have now winterised the tractors, the marker buoys have been taken in and many boats are in winter storage, but I’m sure spring will be upon us before we know it.
The committee that run the Club on behalf of the members find it increasingly difficult to put in the hours that the club now demands to operate it, especially in the current times when everyone is working harder than usual to earn a living. We really appreciate everything they do and the time they give. Moving forward we need to increase the people on the committee, so that it is less of a chore for those who run the club. We are looking to have at least 12 people on the Committee; this may be over and above the three main positions of Chairman, Treasury and Secretary, making the committee possibly up to 15 people. We are also looking at having a sub-committee of people who can help out with events and looking after the clubhouse etc. We are therefore having a meeting on Sunday 15th January 2012 at 8.00pm to discuss this. We would like anyone who is interested in becoming a committee member, or being on a sub-committee to come along so we can explain what will be expected of them and the benefits of being a Committee member.
Over the winter and early spring we have loads of jobs that need doing at the club so if anyone has time on their hands, please let us know. We will also arrange some work parties to get the jobs done.
We would also like to know what members want in the way of events in 2012 as this is how we raise our money to keep the club going (your membership fees only cover around 50% of the cost of running the club). We hope to issue an online questionnaire in January, so please let us know your thoughts. We will also have a paper copy should you not be online.
We are also considering a day trip to one of the cable lakes for the early in the season, this may also include getting to ride some of the 2012 demo boards etc. courtesy of Tribal Watersports - watch this space.
We hope to see as many of you as possible over the winter months. We have a few events planned so we can all keep in touch, so have a look below and it would be great to see you over the winter.
Tuesday 27th December 12.00pm - Christmas lunchtime at the Club, and weather permitting Christmas Ski
Saturday 31st December 7.30pm - News Year’s Eve at the clubhouse, drinks, disco and food
Sunday 15th January 8.00pm - Open committee meeting to discuss committee vacancies
Saturday 25th February 7.00pm - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, please attend!!!
Saturday 31st March - Deadline for 2012 memberships
